Hello! We want to introduce another NEW Guest Blogger for My Fabric Designs. Her name is Aimee Wilson! She’s just as obsessed with fabric and sewing as we are. In fact, she met one of our very own employees at a FABRIC SALE! Coincidence? I think NOT! We are excited to add her to our team of amazing influencers and see what inspiring things she’ll come up with.
Hello! I’m Aimee – also known as the Sewing Scientist. I work full time as an environmental scientist in a government office. I’m always looking to make clothing that I can wear to work and feel confident in.
The Polyester Slub Jersey is one of my favorite knits from My Fabric Designs. The 100% polyester content ensures that the fabric will have minimal shrinkage and that the print will remain vivid for years to come. The fluid drape makes it perfect for flowy tops like this “Lucy” top by Sonia Estep Designs that I made with Corpse Lily Design by B0rwear.
The Polyester Slub Jersey is a stretchy knit with 50% horizontal stretch. Even though the fabric is 100% polyester, it has great recovery. I used the polyester slub jersey for the neck band and it has kept its shape even after being stretched over my head several times..
The polyester slub jersey has a 58” wide printable area. This width is standard for most knits. At $17.50 a yard, the polyester slub jersey is a great buy for a custom printed knit. This fabric is great for tops and lounge wear. It would also be appropriate for skirts and dresses if you lined it or wore a slip underneath as it is not completely opaque. I find that the looser weave of the polyester slub jersey is especially nice for warm weather wear (spring and summer tops), layering pieces (cardigans and scarves), and for workout tops.
What an amazing review by Aimee The Sewing Scientist!
