The holidays are here, and your home may be filled with family and friends in need of some extra seating! Make your own floor poufs to go with any room decor using custom fabric. Follow along with the tutorial below to learn how! ☃🎄
- 2 Yards durable fabric (Heavy Cotton Twill Recommended)
- Poly-Fill (2lbs)
- Bean Bag Filler (2.5 cubic feet)
- Zipper (15” +)
- Sewing Machine
- Marking Pen
Step 1: Cutting out the pattern pieces
First you will start by ironing your new fabric and prepping it for cutting out your pattern pieces. You then will use your ruler and marking pen to cut out 2 squares 19” x 19” and 4 rectangles at 19” x 15”.
Step 2: Sewing the zipper
Now you will take 2 rectangle pattern pieces and line up the short ends with right sides together. Baste the end at ½” seam allowance and press the seam open.
Now you will take your zipper and place it face down on the pressed open seam and pin in place. After swapping out your sewing foot with your zipper foot, stitch down the zipper on either side. Then seam rip open the basted seam.
Step 3: Sewing the panels together
Now you will sew the remaining short ends together with right sides together at ½” seam allowance, creating a ring.
Next you will attach the top and bottom pieces right sides together by pinning around the ends lining up each corner and sew at ½” seam allowance.
Step 4: Filling the pouf
Now you can flip your pouf right side out and start filling it with your poly-fill and bean bag filler.
Once it is completely full you will close the zipper and you are done! Use these fun floor poufs as extra seating around the house or as ottomans to add a bit of flare to your home!
