Fabric Easter Eggs
This month’s fun fat quarter Tuesday project is fabric Easter eggs! Make these cute eggs for decoration or basket stuffers for the kids. They are adorable and so easy to make.
Supplies:
- Sewing Machine
- Thread
- Hand needle
- Pins
- Marking Pen
- Scissors
- Fabric
- Sewing Pattern
Step 1: Cutting Pattern
First you will start by printing out the sewing pattern and cutting out 4 pattern pieces. You can do all the same fabric designs or mix and match as we have for more fun color variation.
Step 2: Sewing Pattern Pieces Together
Next you will start by matching 2 pieces’ right sides together pinning one side together.
Now you will sew and ¼” seam allowances being sure to backstitch at the beginning and end.
Next you will add another pattern piece matching right sides together to one end of the previously sewn pattern piece. You will repeat this process until all 4 pieces are sewn together.
Step 3: Closing Final Side
Once all 4 pieces are connected you will take the open sides and sew about an inch down and leave 1-2” opening then sew down the remainder of the side. This opening us for turning your egg right side out and stuffing it.
Step 4: Stuffing and Finish
Now you will want to clip any stray threads and trim down all seam allowances to 1/8” excluding the small opening you left.
Once all is clipped you will then turn your egg right-side out and stuff with stuffing.
To close your opening pin close and hand stitch closed using a ladder stitch.
All done it is that easy!
Love the fabrics we chose? We used Watercolour Feathers by LYDesign, Geometric Green, and Basic Shapes by truebias, and Floral Fireworks, oh so bubbly, triangulation bold and heterogeneous by NerdlyPainter. All of these designs we had printed on our faux linen slub!
